Drive Behind this - When I moved out of India, I had trouble finding clay moorthis outside India. For many years, we used to get moorthis from stores which were marketed as clay moorthis but upon Visarjan the moorthis would not dissolve and was kept in balcony for months or POP wil not dissolve. It was very disheartening to see my Bappa kept outside for so long.
After doing siginficant research and numerous contributions and feedbacks from Atlanta volunteers, we are here to do mass way. We decided to help as many devotees as possible by making and distributing clay moorthis.
Clay helps nourish the soil in water bodies, offering a sustainable option. Over the past 14 years, this movement has distributed over 40,000 clay Moorthi's free of charge or at a nominal cost to communities, temples, and individuals across Metro Atlanta, GA, as well as other cities in the USA and Canada. Its aim is to increase awareness among devotees about the environmental and cultural benefits of using clay Moorthi's and to provide support to local artisans who create them
During the 2024 Ganesh Chavathi celebration, over 5,000 Moorthi's were distributed solely from the cities of Cumming and Alpharetta alone.
